You should really use metrics

EVE Online cause designer Noah Keep with CCP tells Gamasutra how the space-faring MMORPG uses a mix of analytics and style instinct in the evolution and maintenance of the encounter.

Ward said in a new function appointment that the EVE Online team is increasingly gathering and analyzing gamer information to be able to help make style options."I'm trying to get our designers to discuss more with the researchers," Keep said. "The researchers have been looking into the earnings and the sinks and faucets, and seeing how all that things is -- [we've been] really delving into that things lately."He included, "We're beginning to look at all of WOW Gold, like how individuals are using the various UIs, and also where individuals are when they log on, and perform, and log off. Are individuals beginning their period in a protected area, and then going to the unsecure, and then returning again?"

But Keep emphasized that analytics are only aspect of the motivation behind style options. "A lot of individuals outside of the style department say, 'Well, you should really use metrics!'" he explained."It's like, 'Well, we can study all the analytics on the globe, but if we don't have a vision where we want to take it and a objective, it doesn't issue if a million individuals use this deliver compared to that," he said. "Do we nerf that deliver -- or did we want it to be that way?'"Ward also said CCP gets gamer reviews through polls, so there's an actual voice and hopefully an explanation of problems to use in conjunction with information.
